Setting up and removing the password of an user account in Windows XP
To set up a password for your account in Windows XP, you have to go through the following steps: 1.)Go to Start->Control Panel->User Accounts. 2.)Here you have to pick the Computer Administrator, in my case, the account name is "admin". ![]() 3.)Now click on Create a Password. 4.)After typing the password, confirming it and the password hint click Create password. ![]() From now on, for logging on this Windows XP account you have to type the password you've entered here. To remove the password you'll have to follow these steps: 1.)Restart your PC. 2.)Enter Safe Mode (Normal Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking). How to enter Safe Mode? After restarting the PC, until getting the XP's Boot Screen press F5 to enter Safe Mode. Now you'll have to choose how to start Windows so you have to choose beetwen Safe Mode or Safe Mode With Networking. 3.)After the files get loaded to enter Safe Mode, you'll have to choose beetwen two accounts: the one you've set up a password for and another one called Administrator. 4.)Choose the Administrator account and go to Control Panel->User Accounts->The account with the password (in our case "admin") and press Remove Password or Change Password (if you only want to select a different password). 5.)Now you can log in without any problems on your Windows XP account. Enjoy !
