At the begining create an image with a photo editor program at 32x32 pixels. Save it as an Windows-bitmap(BMP) and convert the file into an ICO(icons, Windows mini images).

For creating ICO files we recommend you the free program Irfanview. Save this image as an Windows icon with the favicon.ico name. Copy the file on your Web server with the HTML pages of your homepage.

The next time you will enter that page, Internet Explorer will remember your new favicon. If the page will be saved in a Favourites list it will have the new icon.
